Technology week

1. EVENT SUMMARY

The University ICT Services (UIS) is delighted to present the 4th season of the UIS Technology Week. This year’s event, themed”Connected Campus: Bridging People, Systems, and Purpose” emphasizes the integration of digital tools, human interaction, and institutional mission to foster a truly connected educational environment.
Participants will engage with systems like Alpha MIS, Moodle, eChagua, and other UIS services, alongside new platforms enhancing collaboration, productivity, and accessibility. The week features practical training sessions, innovation showcases, and reflective discussions on aligning technology with educational and spiritual goals. Technology Week continues to advance UIS’s vision of a digitally empowered UCU community where people, platforms, and purpose align to create a transformative academic experience.

2. UNDERSTANDING THE THEME

The theme “Connected Campus: Bridging People, Systems, and Purpose” underscores the role of technology in creating meaningful connections across the campus between students, faculty, systems, and the university’s mission. It affirms that a connected campus is not merely about having access to internet and digital platforms but about purposefully using those platforms to promote inclusivity, engagement, and institutional growth.

  1. People: The heartbeat of the university students, staff, and faculty must remainconnected and engaged through inclusive digital means. The theme recognizes the importance of nurturing human relationships and collaboration through
digital platforms, while being mindful of equity and accessibility.
  2. Systems: These include the technology and tools such as Alpha MIS, Moodle, BigBlue Button, Eduroam, and cloud solutions that facilitate administration, learning, communication, and research. A connected campus ensures that these
platforms are interoperable, easy to use, and meet the needs of diverse users.
  3. Purpose: Every deployment of technology must be aligned with UCU’s mission of holistic education grounded in Christian values, community service, and the pursuit of academic excellence. Technology is a means, not an end, and must be
deployed in ways that deepen learning, foster stewardship, and prepare students to become responsible digital citizens.

This theme encourages the community to reflect on how the university ecosystem can better harness technology to foster relationships, align systems, and fulfill the university’s educational and spiritual mission. It emphasizes building a cohesive, digitally empowered institution where innovation is meaningful, inclusive, and purpose-driven
